Naquele tempo, Jesus foi para o Monte das Oliveiras. Mas de manhã cedo, apareceu outra vez no templo e todo o povo se aproximou d’Ele. Então sentou-Se e começou a ensinar. Os escribas e os fariseus apresentaram a Jesus uma mulher surpreendida em adultério, colocaram-na no meio dos presentes e disseram a Jesus: «Mestre, esta mulher foi surpreendida em flagrante adultério. Na Lei, Moisés mandou-nos apedrejar tais mulheres. Tu que dizes?». Falavam assim para Lhe armarem uma cilada e terem pretexto para O acusar. Mas Jesus inclinou-Se e começou a escrever com o dedo no chão. Como persistiam em interrogá-l’O, Ele ergueu-Se e disse-lhes: «Quem de entre vós estiver sem pecado atire a primeira pedra». Inclinou-Se novamente e continuou a escrever no chão. Eles, porém, quando ouviram tais palavras, foram saindo um após outro, a começar pelos mais velhos, e ficou só Jesus e a mulher, que estava no meio. Jesus ergueu-Se e disse-lhe: «Mulher, onde estão eles? Ninguém te condenou?». Ela respondeu: «Ninguém, Senhor». Jesus acrescentou: «Também Eu não te condeno. Vai e não tornes a pecar».

“Os escribas e os fariseus apresentaram a Jesus uma mulher surpreendida em adultério.” Os inimigos do Filho de Deus viam nela uma ocasião para exercer a Justiça implacável, ficarem bem vistos aos olhos dos exímios cumpridores da lei de Moisés e, ao mesmo tempo, desacreditarem na palavra do Nazareno. Como Ele conhecia a perversidade das intenções dos seus inimigos antes de se pronunciar sobre o assunto, provocou-lhes a consciência do pecado «Quem de entre vós estiver sem pecado atire a primeira pedra.» “quando ouviram tais palavras, foram saindo um após outro, a começar pelos mais velhos, e ficou só Jesus e a mulher, “ Jesus pergunta «Mulher, onde estão eles? Ninguém te condenou?». Ela respondeu: «Ninguém, Senhor». Jesus acrescentou: «Também Eu não te condeno. Vai e não tornes a pecar». Enquanto os fariseus viam na mulher uma pecadora merecedora de castigo, Jesus vê nela uma mulher, uma pessoa criada e amada por Deus, uma pessoa que deve ser levantada e perdoada.
A pobre mulher sentiu-se regenerada, reabilitada, uma pessoa nova. Jesus mostrou o coração de Deus. Assim nos diz S. João “A lei foi dada por Moisés, mas a graça e a ver¬dade vieram por Jesus Cristo” (Jo 1.17).
Para caminharmos com Cristo, por Cristo e em Cristo temos de procurar ter o coração como o de Jesus, que acolhe, perdoa e envia a pessoa de volta para a vida com a missão de não voltar a pecar.

Deus Pai, obrigado pois quando estávamos perdidos, incapazes de nos aproximarmos de Vós, destes-nos a maior prova do Vosso amor: o vosso Filho, o único Justo, entregou-Se em nossas mãos, deixando-se pregar numa Cruz.

John 8:1-11
8 1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 At dawn, he appeared again in the temple courts; where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 “No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Reflection
Gospel (John 8:1-11) “Whoever among you is without sin, throw the first stone.”
“The scribes and Pharisees presented Jesus with a woman caught in adultery.” The enemies of the Son of God saw it as an opportunity to exercise ruthless justice; be well regarded in the eyes of the accomplished observers of the Law of Moses and at the same time to discredit the word of the Nazarene. As he knew the wickedness of his enemies’ intentions before speaking on the matter, he made them aware of their sin “Whoever among you is without sin, throw the first stone.” “When they heard such words, they left one after another, starting with the elders, and only Jesus and the woman remained,“ Jesus asks “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? “. She replied, “Nobody Lord”. Then Jesus added; “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on sin no more.”
While the Pharisees saw a woman as a sinner worthy of punishment, Jesus sees her as a woman, a person created and loved by God, a person who must be forgiven and redeemed.
The poor woman felt regenerated, rehabilitated, a new person. Jesus showed the true Heart of God. So St. John tells us, “The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).
In order to walk with Christ, for Christ and in Christ we must try to have a heart like that of Jesus, who welcomes, forgives and sends the person back to life with the mission of not sinning again.
Prayer
God the Father, thank you because when we were lost, unable to approach You, you gave us the greatest proof of Your love: your Son, the only true judge, He who, being without sin , gave himself into our hands, letting himself be nailed to a Cross.
