44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; 46 on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

REFLECTION
“But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”(Matthew 6:33) In this passage of the Gospel, we find an invitation from the Lord to seek the only necessary thing that corresponds to man’s deepest desire for fulfillment: It is the hidden treasure, the precious pearl, the ABC of happiness: ‘The Joy and Goodness of Christ.’
The kingdom of heaven is like a great treasure and a priceless pearl.
Many times, when searching for it, we deceive ourselves and choose the wrong path. We think that the accumulation of wealth and material possessions in this world gives meaning and value to our lives, which of course, it does not and in doing so, we are prone to miss the discovery of the essential treasure, the Kingdom of Heaven.
We are, therefore faced, with a necessary choice with this evangelical passage, we can either opt for wealth, power, fame and pleasure to fulfill our lives or, seek the meaning of life in a deep relationship with God, praying like the psalmist (Psalm 62:1-2) 1 For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall never be shaken.
We are called by God to be a people deeply fulfilled, to discover the kingdom of Heaven in his Word and in His love. We may even condense this treasure into three letters PBF: the joy of PEACE, BREAD and FORGIVENESS.
The apostles one day found the Lord and left everything for Him. In Jesus, we find the meaning for our lives, what will we give up for Him?
Whoever seeks Jesus, whoever discovers Him, whoever enters into the precious treasure, which is the Heart of Jesus, finds his reason for living.
PRAYER
We bless you Lord Jesus, for allowing us to discover in your Gospel, in your person and in your love, the hidden treasure and the precious pearl of the Kingdom of Heaven, its value is priceless and worth everything. Amen.
