GOSPEL, Mark (16: 15-20)
Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark
Jesus Commissions the Disciples
15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. 16 The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
The Ascension of Jesus
19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it.
The Gospel of the Lord
REFLECTION
By participating in the Eucharistic celebration, we thank God that he sent his Son into the world to teach us the way to true happiness: A complete love in the example of Christ. That is why the response of the faithful to the greeting of the priest “The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all” confirms the purpose of this liturgical function; The fraternity that marked the first community of Christians and continues through the centuries. The proclaimed Word, lived and witnessed over the centuries nourishes it.
The active and faithful participation of Holy Mass takes us to the Mission. Today, precisely on the day of the Ascension of the Lord, we will reflect on the final words of the priest: “Go in peace and the Lord be with you”
Throughout the day, at home, at work and in places of conviviality “We exercise the function of ambassadors” of Christ,(2 Corinthians 5: 20) who also tells us: “Go all over the world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature! (Mark16:15)
It is now, incumbent to believers to carry out this life project: to fight against evil, to lead others to adhere and accept the person and message of Jesus.
May the Lord fill us with the joy of his resurrection and help us to live a life of praise for his glory. May we be able to witness the joy of the Gospel and the reality of the resurrection!
